" Hi Peter,

On Wednesday evening, 3rd September, 2008, I was hired for security duties at a function at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, 111 Sturt Street, Southbank. As you know, it was your company that was hired for the catering. I thought that you might like to receive some feedback on your staff at this event.

As you do not know me, I thought that I might first provide a few details about myself so that you may gauge my experience to provide this feedback.

I was a police officer for twenty-five years, (twelve years in Australia and thirteen years in England). In the police in England I performed Bodyguard duties to HRH Prince Charles, HRH Princess Margaret, Margaret Thatcher, and various other senior Ministers and foreign heads of State. As you can imagine, I attended many functions with these V.I.P’s.

After resigning from the police I worked as a driver/bodyguard to a multi-millionaire in London, who was an associate of the Sultan of Brunei. With my employer I attended many more functions with Royalty and other V.I.P’s present.

Since returning to Melbourne thirteen years ago, I have worked in the security industry in five star establishments, attended by Royalty, Prime Ministers, Premiers, Heads of State, and many other prominent V.I.P’s, including sporting celebrities and rock stars. In the last two and a half years, I have concentrated on Celebrity and Event security.

The reason I am telling you all this, is that during all those years I attended hundreds of functions and witnessed their catering arrangements. Some good, some bad. On many occasions, particularly in Australia, I have seen catering functions badly organised, with staff that are below par. The food offered by staff on trays has been stupid decorations that guests do not recognise, is often not very appealing, and is food that has little taste and no substance.

Your catering function at ACCA last Wednesday was excellent. It was well organised. Your staff were smartly dressed. They were polite, courteous and attentive. The food brought around on trays was the best I have seen for a long time. Instead of silly decorations, the food was good quality basic items that appeal to guests. The food was plentiful, hot, tasty and enjoyable. The range of drinks was good. I spoke to the James, the organiser of the event at ACCA, and I commented on how good the catering was. He agreed with me and stated that he had found your company to be very easy to deal with.

I have taken the time and trouble to write this to you because I have found that people are very quick to complain, but slow to give praise. I believe in giving credit where credit is due.

"Hi Peter and The ACC staff,

Just writing to say a big thank you to Peter and the staff involved in our wedding on Sunday 19th October in the Melbourne Rowing Club.

After some stressing!( mainly by me) and some access issues due to cyclists the evening reception worked out just as we would have wanted. We, our families and our friends were very impressed with the food and also the professionalism of all staff involved. Shelly and Andrew worked with us that evening to make sure everything ran as we would want it.

The bar staff were great and a big hit with some of the ladies in the room i think! All very friendly and approachable. I was particularly impressed at the tinfoil handbag created by one staff member to allow me to take home our left over cupcakes. A nice touch! Mason I think?

Everyone commented about the food for days and also the fact that the staff made things happen but that we were not sometimes aware of their presence. This was especially felt towards the end of the evening when magically things were cleaned up etc. They worked with us till the end and were very accommodating to our wishes.

Overall we and our guests had an amazing time and wish to pass on our THANKS! to you and your team. "

I organise a lot of events in Sydney and Melbourne and the complaints are always the same - not enough food, not good enough service, some people never seem to get any of the food etc etc. I don't think I've run a cocktail-style event like this ever and got feedback like this. We have used your service on previous occasions however this time I handled the booking and found it all unbelievably easy. My initial call with Rachael was great. She assured me that nothing would be a problem. She obviously knows her trade well and was excellent to deal with over the phone. I would say I am a fussy customer and Rachael’s attention to detail was exactly what I was looking for. The food was sensational and the guys who presented everything for your company did a fabulous job. Again, nothing was too much trouble and they were fast, efficient and friendly to deal with on the day. Also, thank the chefs for their effort – the pork was great and the crackle was as promised – CRISPY.

A catering company can make or break your event and without a doubt, we had a successful day thanks to yourselves and the Middle Park Bowling Club.
